| 05.26.2009 - 5.23.09 - CHATTANOOGA SHOW UPDATE CHATTANOOGA SHOW on MAY 31st at THE COLONNADE in RINGGOLD, GA!! Hey friends, the Stellar Kart tour has ended now, and we are on the way back to Tennessee on the bus talking about what a great time that we all had! We got to know the Stellar guys a lot better and kicked their butts in whiffle ball a couple of times (they kicked our butts probably 15 times though... shhhhh). They are super cool dudes! We also got to hang with Me in Motion and a few other pretty awesome guys on the tour, so it was a lot of fun! I want to say thanks so much to everyone who came out to the shows and sang along with us! Seeing people out there rocking and worshiping with us really makes it worth it, and all of those shows are for you! On another note, we have been writing some new songs and doing demos, so we're pretty stoked about that. We'll have updates about all of us soon! God bless you all! - Joshua and the guys. |

| 01.13.2009 - CHANGE IS HAPPENING Hello friends! It has been awhile since we have updated you on things that are happening, but, rest assured, there is a lot going on with Nevertheless. First of all, for those of you who don't already know, a couple of months ago Brad decided that it was time for him to move on to other things in his life. Nothing negative happened, and Brad is still a good friend to us, but he just decided that his life was taking him a different direction than Nevertheless was going. He has been in this band since the beginning in 2002, and we miss having him around in the van, in the hotels, and on the stage with us! That being said, we have still been playing shows, and our friend Zack Randolph has been helping us out on guitar. I know a lot of you guys have met him at shows over the last couple of months and learned what a great guy he is! Another thing I should tell you is that we are confirming a couple of tours right as we speak. We just confirmed a tour with Stellar Kart in the Spring, and we are working on a February tour that I can't wait to tell you about too! The summer festivals are being booked and we look forward to being in touring mode soon. We will have dates up as soon as possible... For now, we have been enjoying a little bit of time off with our families and friends at home, but we can't wait to get out there and play for you soon. We have been playing this song for the whole entire To Write Love on Her Arms tour (which has been amazing), and it seems to be one that people like... so, we put it up on the old space for you. | 10.29.2008 - AJ'S APPENDIX IS MISSING... Appendix - 1) Supplementary material that is usually found at the end of something that has been written; 2) A medical term that refers to a small hollow blind process or the vermiform appendix. These are both definitions for the word Appendix found in the version of Webster's Dictionary that I own. The reason I tell you this is because AJ lost his appendix (not definition 1) this week. He told us that his stomach was hurting the other day, and then he went to the doctor's office to check it out. They immediately made him go see a surgeon, and, that night, he had to have his appendix removed so that it would not rupture. It will forever be missed among us. On a serious note, the surgery went great, and AJ is home recovering. Keep AJ in your prayers that he would have a speedy and safe recovery. Hopefully we can see you guys soon at a show! | 10.15.2008 - JESUS IS NOT A REPUBLICAN...OR A DEMOCRAT Earlier today I was in the line of cars at the bank to deposit a check, when I was, once again, reminded that I live in the Bible belt. The SUV in front of me had some interesting swag: In the left corner, a silver fish with the word "Jesus" inside, and, on the right, a bumper sticker of an elephant peeing on the word "liberal". I thought "That's it". "That's exactly what Jesus would do - pee on the liberals". No, actually I didn't think that. Instead, I thought of how absurd it is to actually think that Jesus is either a Republican or a Democrat. On the contrary, I believe that Jesus Christ is God, and he needn't pledge his allegiance to any system that we humans have made up. His allegiance is to the Godhead and His kingdom, as should ours be... That being said, I still think that we all need to vote. Gather all of the information that you can about both candidates, and, most of all, pray about what to do. God will lead your heart the right direction. Although God is ultimately in control of the outcome, it is an honor and responsibility to let your voice be heard. I am not and overly political person, but I felt compelled to put two cents in... | 10.14.2008 - SHEDDING LIGHT... It is early Sunday morning, and I just got home from a weekend trip to Des Moines, Iowa and St. Louis, Missouri. I am sipping coffee on my deck, reading a book by Henri Nouwen called "The Return of the Prodigal Son", and certain parts are helping me to understand aspects of my own life more clearly. They are serving to shed even more light on the things that I have written myself, and, the next time someone asks me what "Sleeping In" is about, I might start with... "Constantly falling back into an old trap, before I am even fully aware of it, I find myself wondering why someone hurt me, rejected me, or didn't pay attention to me. Without realizing it, I find myself brooding about someone else's success, my own loneliness, and the way the world abuses me. Despite my conscious intentions, I often catch myself daydreaming about becoming rich, powerful, and very famous. All of these mental games reveal to me the fragility of my faith that I am the Beloved One on whom God's favor rests. I am so afraid of being disliked, blamed, put aside, passed over, ignored, persecuted, and killed, that I am constantly developing strategies to defend myself and thereby assure myself of the love I think I need and deserve. And in so doing I move far away from my Father's home and choose to dwell in a 'distant country'". The story of the prodigal son in the Bible is a story of unconditional love. It is a story of how a father loves his son no matter what he has done in his past. Although parts of the above excerpt may seem overdramatic at first glance, read it again carefully. Look at your own heart and examine the things that you really want. What drives you? What drives us all today? Is it affluence and popularity? Is it acceptance or respect? Are we waking up every morning just to prove to the world that we are someone? Or do we realize that we belong the God and that He loves us no matter what? He loved us when we were helpless babies with dirty diapers, and he loves us when we are helpless adults with failing mutual funds. It's Sunday today. Rest. Rest in the Father's arms. - Joshua |
